I am lucky enough to have a job in which I love what I do. My full time job is teaching ESL and Spanish and that is my passion in life. I love the steps and processes of learning a new language and seeing my students become comfortable with the language we are learning.

My Education

I have a Masters in Spanish and Second Language Acquisition from Texas State University and a BA in Spanish and Management from Syracuse University

My Experience

I have taught both Spanish as a second language and English as a second language for over seven years. The students I have taught include adults and teens from all over Latin America, Asia, and the United States. I have extensive experience with language learning technology and have done university level research and papers on second language acquisition. Just as important I have the experience of having learned a second language as an adult. I started learning Spanish in college and got to a level of fluency in about five years. This experience was extremely valuable in terms of my effectiveness as a language teacher. I feel I know what works and what doesn't in learning a second language.

My Awards

I was featured this month in "SHARE" magazine (an educator's publication) in their "In the Spotlight" section. The article talked about the success I've had using language learning software with ESL students at my school. Also mentioned in the write-up was how I set up the program at my school and how I motivate my students.

I was also asked to speak at a Regional Best Practices ELL English Language Learners Conference this November in San Antonio, TX where I discussed the success I've had in my classroom with English language learners from all over the world.
