My Education
I received my BA in Christian Ministry and Biblical Counseling from United Christian Ministries, Columbia City ,IN. I am also a licensed Pastor with a Charter Church, Sweet Fellowship Ministries.
For those taking my Be a Dog Expert/Beginner course, I am also a UKC all breed judge, an AKC provisional judge, and have owned, trained, shown and bred many champion dogs. I am an animal behaviorist, and serve as an animal expert on Practical Pet Care Ezine. I also train and evaluate service and therapy dogs, and work with the local Humane Society as a rehab center for abused and neglected animals.
I trained early in my horse career with Can Do It Farms as an apprentice instructor. I also worked at Hospitality Stables in PA as a youth working with Morgan gaited horses.
My Experience
I have worked as an Essential Lifestyle Plan Facilitator, served as a Program Counselor, and worked largely with Vulnerable Adults in foster care situations. My ministry has been largley serving inmates and bringing them the word of God. My future Ministry lies in a more psychological arena, as I pursue my PhD in psychology.
In the horse area, I have been involved in horse training and riding instruction since 1975. I have competed in all areas of competition and trained students in both English and Western riding. I owned a small Arabian Horse enterprise, and my horses competed under saddle as well as in halter performance. I owned and conducted instruction for Honeydoo Acres, a riding academy for the differently abled. During that time, I was a member of NARHA, the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association. My students have competed in Class A events and have always placed very high in the ribbons.
My Awards
I have received over 20 Champion of record titles on dogs I have bred,as well as on dogs I have handled for others. Most recently I finished an International Champion Bullmastiff who went Best in Show / Bred By Exhibitor. I am also the Vice President of our local dog club.I am an AKC provisional judge and a UKC all breeds judge. I have trained a number of dogs to Obedience titles. I also train and evaluate Service dogs and Therapy dogs, and I am a CGC evaluator for AKC.
For those taking my riding instructor courses, I have been a horse trainer/riding instructor since 1975. I have had the pleasure of training horses for Ford's Corner Arabians, Dollahite Walking Horses, Cherry Hill Farms, to name just a few. My students compete in Class A shows, and are always in the ribbons. I have been a past member of NARHA (North American Riding for the Handicapped Association) and ran my own therapuetic riding school, Honeydoo Acres. I have experience in all areas of riding and training including sidesaddle, western pleasure and equitation, hunter on the flat and over fences, dressage, saddle seat equitation, single driving, two in hand, and four in hand. I have competed in gymkana as well, holding a tri state champion record for Barrel horse, keyhole, and pole bending. I have many ribbons and trophies to my accomplishment, but these hold much less pride than the work I do with children who want to learn the art of horsemanship.I grew up on a farm in Northeast Ohio. I trained horses as a
youngster and competed in all levels of competition. I then
apprenticed as an instructor for a year at Can Do It Stables
in Ohio under the direction of Candy Smith.
I continued to train horses and developed my own business in
Grand Junction Colorado, training show horses for a number of
farms including Ford's Corner Arabians, Cherry Hill Farms, and
a number of Peruvian Paso Farms in the area.
I also trained students throughout this time, including the
riders for Ford's Corner Arabians, and students who showed under
my direction.
Mesa County offered me a position with the College for a class
in horsemanship, which unfortunately fell through due to funding
issues.
I relocated to Louisiana and trained for an exclusive Peruvian
Paso Ranch, before moving to Mississippi, where I continued
training for Dollahite Tennessee Walkers, Altman Saddlebreds,
as well as working as an instructor at my own farm.
