My Experience
Carole Joy Sallid-Times is a native New Yorker who now makes her home on Long Island. Born in Manhattan and raised in the Bronx, Carole knew quite early in her career that helping people was what she wanted to do with her life. In the 60’s and 70’s she worked for various anti-poverty programs including the celebrated Har-You Act in Harlem and Jessie Jackson’s PUSH. She was instrumental in helping start the ball rolling for a Black owned bank on Wall Street. Although the bank did not open it did set many standards. The Wall Street Journal, in a historic event, placed a picture on its front page. The picture was the expectant Wall Street bank’s Stockmobile, with Carole in it, traveling to grassroots neighborhoods, educating and training community people how to purchase bank stock. This began the start of her two-passion profession, creating special events and teaching.
During her wide-ranging human services career, Carole worked for other public service organizations including Economic & Manpower Corp., South Bronx Neighborhood Center and Affinity Health Plan. Ms. Times also lent her versatile abilities and talents to familiar institutions such as Essence Magazine, New York School for Social Research, Columbia Pictures, and the Urban League.
Another of Carole’s career highlights is her association with Brown, Brown and Associates (BBA), an internationally known training company located on Long Island. At BBA, as a consultant, she facilitated diversity workshops in New York City for Con Edison’s thousands of employees.
Ms. Times graduated from Lincoln University with a Masters of Human Services in 1992. Semi retired, Ms. Times is now the CEO of her own business consulting firm, Times Business Groups, LLC. Ms. Times is also a founding member of the Business Divas of New York. Carole looks forward to gaining her doctorate in policy and leadership.
