My Experience
HIGHLIGHTS
- Community recruitment activities toward increasing awareness of the need for foster homes and encouraging community involvement.
- Oversaw the general operation of maternal child health program and provided supervision to staff rendering coordination services to eligible prenatal and post natal mothers and their families.
- Assisted in the development of infant mortality home interview program component of research project; Established protocols for contacting eligible mothers and conducted home interviews with mothers who had suffered the death of infants due to SIDS or homicide.
- Developed and directed bereavement and spiritual care departments as well as organized and oversaw quarterly memorial services; represented employer in meetings with members of national organizations, funding sources and at special fund raising events. Hospice outreach to the African American community. Ministered to the psycho-spiritual needs of the terminally ill and their families.
- Organized coalitions and partnerships with community organizations toward working together to address common interests and concerns relating to children and their families.
- Served over 25 years as a child welfare worker providing intensive home based family treatment to high risk children and their families including foster care, substance abuse prevention, family preservation, sickle cell and maternal child health.
- Successfully coordinated therapeutic and educational groups for community's at risk females living in group residential facilities utilizing Michigan's 4-H youth development course.
- Provided successful trainings to the community in the areas of grief/loss/separation, interpersonal communications and personal development.
- Provided all aspects of case management services including crisis intervention, treatment plans, psychosocial history's, behavior modification, counseling, diagnostic assessments, legal, psychiatric & psychological team consultation, case presentations to Foster Care Review Board, and court intervention on neglect/abuse petitions; recruited, studied, assessed and licensed foster homes.
- Home visits to referred elderly patients and conducted social service needs assessment; provided patients with clarifying information and connected with appropriate community resources; documented evaluation summary and submitted to referring nurse coordinator.
- Provided clinical training and clinical supervision to professional social work staff and supervised undergraduate social work and counseling interns; provided for personnel administration, training, implementing workshops, conducting staff meetings, and completing work appraisals of staff in accordance with personnel policies; planned workloads, deadlines, work objectives and time utilization with staff and directed work schedules to ensure client needs were as effectively and efficiently met as possible.
- Provided or assisted in providing all aspects of pastoral/spiritual services to parishioners including: conducting services of worship, officiating funerals, weddings, memorials, interments, baptisms; provided grief/bereavement counseling and implemented recovery grief/bereavement groups; developed and implemented community outreach programs; oversaw the operations of our Department of Christian Education, Missionary Society, Trustee and Stewardship Boards; ministered to the sick, shut-ins, bereaved and the dying; completed quarterly church financial reports and presented to area Superintendent and Board of Trustees, participated and made presentations at both our quarterly (north district) and annual (all districts) church conferences.
