RAY OF SUNSHINE SITTING SERVICE June 2003-Present Owner of Carrollton-Farmers Branch-Flower Mound, TX Franchise On Call R.N. Advisor /Supervisor for Ray of Sunshine, Inc. Denton. Oversees daily operations of a home care agency for seniors providing part, full time 24/7 care. Assists corporate office with nursing supervision of acute clients RESEARCH ACROSS AMERICA-SKINTASTIC(Dr. Adelglass and Associates) May 2001-2003 Director of Marketing and Community Relations Clinical Research Study Coordinator Job responsibilities included marketing and public relations for a large physician practice with offices in Carrollton, Dallas, and Las Colinas. The practice incorporated three separate companies: A national clinical research site, an ENT surgery/allergy practice, and a skincare/facial plastic surgery practice. Functioned as media buyer, designing ads and campaigns for all types of media, including T.V., radio, newspaper, and direct mail. Physician, staff, and patient recruitment for clinical trials and the practice were the goals of these campaigns and activities. Job description expanded to include that of research study coordinator which included the recruitment, coordination, and implementation of national clinical trials.
MEDIA EXPERIENCE
LJM MEDIA PRODUCTIONS (owner) Est. Oct.1997-current Projects- "HealthViews" (producer/owner) HealthViews was a weekly radio broadcast that aired every Friday morning in the Dallas/Ft.Worth area market. It was a medical talk show that featured the best in the medical profession covering topics from plastic surgery to insurance. Responsibilities included hosting, production, guest scheduling, copywriting, sales, promotions and editing of this hour long program. Guests included Dr. Ron Anderson, CEO of Parkland Memorial Hospital, Rocky Reese, CEO of Family Hospice, Inc., Brian Carr, Executive Director of the National Kidney Foundation of Texas, faculty members of UT Southwestern Medical School of Dallas, Presbyterian and Baylor Hospitals of Dallas. The purpose of the program was to educate and inform public of current medical trends and issues from a christian perspective. Project aired in 1998 on KLTY's mission station Praise 104.9 FM.
KHYI 95.3 FM / KXEZ 92.1 FM Feb. '99 - May 2001 Plano/ Allen Tx. Account Executive/ Promotions/ Public Affairs radio talk show host/on –air weekend personality Producer/host of “In the Beginning…” a classic contemporary music show featuring 2nd Chapter of Acts, Larry Norman, Phil Keaggy, Randy Stonehill- and others. It is a chronology of christian music from 1970 through today. Responsible for sales on both stations, logging traffic, executing promotions, currently working on production/hosting/ guest scheduling of public affairs program, "The Sunday Edition" to air on both KXEZ 92.1FM, and KHYI 95.3FM every Sunday morning at 9&10 am.Guests include representatives from local and national organizations, including Easter Seals, Kent Watrip National Paraylsis Foundation, American Red Cross, Collin County Children's Advocacy Center, Boy's and Girls Club -Denton County, and many more.
MEDICAL EXPERIENCE
PARKLAND MEMORIAL HOSPITAL, Dallas Sep 1986 to Mar 1998 Position/Title: Staff Nurse - RN Department: Ambulatory Care Clinic Duties involved care of outpatient ambulatory patients requiring acute but non-emergent care. This included patient teaching and assessment, phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IV's, medication administration, glucose and cardiac monitoring, scheduling of patients for appointments, Charge Nurse responsibilities, heavy triage experience, both telephone and at clinic triage desk. Position/Title: Staff Nurse - RN Department: Day Surgery Experience and responsibilities included pre and postoperative care of outpatient ambulatory surgery patients. This involved patient teaching and assessment, phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IV's, medication administration, glucose and cardiac monitoring, scheduling of patients, and assisting in QA committee functions for the unit. Position/Title: Assistant Head Nurse Department: Pediatrics Management responsibilities included staffing, scheduling, evaluating, disiplining staff members and conducting staff meetings on a monthly basis. Other responsibilities included quality assurance auditing for the unit, devising audit tools and assigning QA activities. Charge nurse duties included triage of new patients, making room and nurse assignments for the unit. Experience also included direct patient care on a daily basis of pediatric patients of all ages and diverse diagnoses. This was comprised of Cardiac- apnea monitoring, establishing and maintaining IV's, medication administration, NG and gastrostomy feeding, cast care, traction, trach care, suctioning, and phlebotomy.
Position/Title: Staff Nurse - RN Department: Internal Medicine/Renal Transplant Functioned as Charge Nurse and Preceptor doing general medical/surgical nursing, comprising care of pre and post-op kidney transplant patients, dialysis patients, patients with diabetes, cardiac, respiratory, and liver disease, multi-system trauma, and infectious disease. Skills used included initiation and monitoring of IV therapy including special drips, i.e. Insulin, Aminophylline, and Heparin drips, as well as parenteral nutrition, blood and blood products. Peritoneal dialysis,(IPD and CAPD), phlebotomy, care and use of hemodialysis accesses, and monitoring CVP. Performed tube feedings, care of NG and gastrostomy tubes, as well as medication adminstration via these routes. Used computer on a daily basis to order lab work, make appointments, and coordinate pt care with other departments. Participated in quality assurance audits of the nursing unit, wrote care plans, did patient teaching and staff orientation of new staff members.
